Sylvie Vartan at the Première of Sammy Davis Jr at the Olympia
2 June 1967
The 2 June 1967 Sylvie Vartan and her husband Johnny Hallyday attended the premiere of Sammy Davis Junior at the Olympia. Having learnt their lesson from the evening of the 21 December 1966, Sylvie and Johnny make a 'discreet entrance' in a Lamborghini. The fuschia tones of Sylvie's designer dresses emphasise the immaculate white of the sports car... Very first specimen of the Miura P400 series delivered in France, Johnny's Lamborghini ended up crumpled against a tree the 28 August of the same year... |

After having aquired a dinner jacket in 1966 from Yves Saint Laurent rue Spontini, Sylvie went there a second time to choose the outfit she would wear this premiere evening at the Olympia. "ELLE" magazine was present and photgraphed her as she tried things on. she was seduced by certain pieces from Yves Saint Laurent's "africaine" collection but in the end her choice carried towards a more traditional dress. |
The orignal piece was presented in the catwalk as number 62. It was a dress in white pique cotton elevated with embroidery. We can see it worn by Véronique Peck at the twenty-second ceremony of the Tony Awards the 21 April 1967.
