Sylvie Vartan and Johnny Hallyday Premiere Olympia 67

15 March 1967

1966 had been chaotic, it had spelled the end of the ye-ye, of the SLC era and buried the king and queen,  Johnny and Sylvie. Sylvie took a sabbatical year, limiting herself to recording a few titles with rather modest success, and as for Johnny his record sales were falling and his nationwide concerts struggled to sell out.

At the end of 1966, Sylvie was inspired to sing "Quand un amour renaît" ("when a love is reborn"), a good move as with love, success returns as well...

At the start of 1967, "Par amour par pitié" and "2'35 de bonheur" were ranked in the sales top 10, and Johnny, with "Noir c'est noir", recovered his place at number 1 and held onto it. If their separation had been well publicised, their reunion was advertised at least as much. For the first time together they put on an Olympia show. Its success was such that it was extended by a week, they stayed on the billing from the 15 March to the 16 April.

The evening of the premiere, the star couple saw the cream of showbiz pass through their dressing room, from Charles Trenet to Richard Anthony, from Jean-Jacques Debout to Françoise Hardy and Eddy Mitchell... In her lace dress, Sylvie didn't seem to realise just how interested in her the photographers were...
